McLaren opens up about MP4-12C Spider
McLaren has revealed the MP4-12C Spider convertible version of its supercar and the open-top model will cost from £195,000.
The Spider uses the same 616bhp 3.8-litre V8 engine that was recently upgraded by McLaren. For the convertible, it gives a top speed of 196mph with the retractable roof folded down or 204mph with the roof raised.
From rest to 62mph in the Spider takes 3.1 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe due to an additional 40kg of weight in the drop-top.
A fabric roof is used in the MP4-12C Spider and it takes 17 seconds to fold away completely under the rear deck.
The McLaren MP4-12C Spider is available to order now and the first cars should reach customers in November.
