Ferrari UK debuts for 458 Spider and California 30

Ferrari will give its new 458 Spider a UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June. Alongside the Spider will be the Ferrari California 30, which takes its name from a 30bhp boost in power to 483bhp and a 30kg drop in weight.

The 458 Spider uses a folding metal roof, a first for a mid-engined Ferrari, and the new system weighs 25kg less than the previous 430 Spider’s fabric roof arrangement.

Priced at under £200,000, the 458 Spider sees off 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 199mph.

The California 30 manages to cut its weight by 30kb by using new aluminium construction techniques. This weight saving and the extra 30bhp help the California 30 from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds to be 0.1 second faster than the car it replaces. It is also available with a new Handling Speciale package to sharpen its responses in corners by reducing body roll.
